I know it is not nice to complain about AI (as it is putting up a decent fight so far), but is there a reason why it marches big stacks into the middle of nowhere at the beginning of winter (only to have them eliminated by bad weather).

I have seen several stacks run off and die this way (in Arkansas, the Desert province in the West and through Virginia, with me neatly 'closing the trap', instead of trying to engage my (well protected) front.

Another question: is it possible to see wether I sank any ships when bombarding them with coastal batteries? the AI seems to love to cruise by and take a few hits.

Some of us suspect there may be a problem with the AI detect bonus option in the last few versions. Are you using this option? If you are, try turning it down or off and report back if you see a difference in Athena's behavior.

In fact, can you post all the option settings you are using when you see this?

There is no way to see the results of bombardment. (Probably because SCUBA gear hadn't been invented) :niark:

I wish the Union would do that in my game. All they seem to do is surround me at Richmond, and lay siege, then if i make a move out, an Army or Corps takes Richmond from under my nose.

I'll post em when I get back from work. I assume Athena is the nickname for the AI?

I'd say the results from a bombardement wouldn't be so hard to see, i.e. 7 ships blown up by coastal batteries.

Just checked this and I have no AI bonuses on, as I don't like the AI cheating against me.
