Regarding blockade boxes.

Playing as USA..is it required for high seas (Atlantic and gulf boxes) blockade fleets to stay in offensive posture and therefor take a cohesion hit everyday?
Also; does it matter what posture the convoys in the shipping box are in and is it better to attach escorts to them or as a separate fleet?
And for the last question: am I correct in assuming that transports are worth adding to all major fleets as counterparts to supply wagons on land, to prolong staying power?
Thanx

Pocus has stated that posture does not matter in the boxes.
Yes, transports do seem to be very helpful in providing supply to naval units in the boxes.

Runyan,
You state that,
"Yes, transports do seem to be very helpful in providing supply to naval units in the boxes."
Except for the occasional dustup with some blocade runners or raiders, I havent encountered any supply issues with my blocade ships in the shipping lanes or blocade boxes, only steady erosion of cohesion. I dont see where adding a transport to the blocade boxes would help here.
I have noticed that the game option to reduce that micromanagement as added in 1.08, where by the Union can accept lower efficiency (75%, 66%, 50%) is still causing, what looks apparently like, the normal decay of cohesion so rotating the ships back to port is still needed. Am not sure if the rate of cohesion loss has changed with the automate blocade options selected.
I have been playing with 66% lately and my ships are still are losing cohesion.
So my question is whether selecting the blocade automation option is causing my blocades to be reduced to 66% efficiency while still requiring the Union to cycle the blocade/shipping lanes ships back and forth from ports without reducing cohesion loss or even reducing cohesion loss by 66% for example.
Can anyone verify this is working as it should?
regards,
John

Using the "no-loss, reduced-efficiency"-option, I keep my boxed units mostly at passive posture, and in that state, cohesion is maintained.

So, passive posture should make them more succeptible to CSA raiders?? Or do I then need some frigates on aggressive posture to deal with those, while keeping my blocade fleets in passive.

Ah, my bad. I mean defensive posture, of course.
Don't quite know about the need for fleets on aggressive posture; I *think* you need them to be in order to engage the enemy, since that's how it works on land.

This brings up a slight frustration with ACW
If this: "Pocus has stated that posture does not matter in the boxes." is true, then why does the game punish you with cohesion hits for (accidently) selecting Offensive/Assault?
As mentioned before, does Pocus include Passive as not mattering?
So, is there a single best posture for naval?
Does this change if the "no-loss, reduced-efficiency"-option is used?

It doesn't punish you per say, it's jsut that outside the boxes you need to be in offensive mode to engage enemy fleets. That thenbeing on the "hunt" takes a cohesion hit everyday as opposed to jsut hanging around and only defending yourself. My thing though is that i leave my blockade/escort feelts on offensive posture even in the boxes.I just didnt want them to ignore the enemy there, but I guess I was wrong since the only thing about the boxes that matters is the percentage, right? I don't recall a single engagmment in a box yet,so therefore it only makes sense to stay on offensive when blocking ports outside the boxes?Really would appreciate if someone would confirm that 100% 'cause it's bugging me to no end...
thank you in advance
