Sooner or later anyone living in the United States will check the map to see how places they've lived in are depicted (that's part of the fun of it).

I've lived in Montgomery county outside of Washington DC (it's on the map), in Philadelphia (the neighboring counties of Pennsylvania look pretty good, and I have no quarrel with the names of counties across the Delaware River in New Jersey), in New York City and Westchester county outside of New York City.

In looking at the area around New York (which I'm sure will never get played in) I was surprised to see something called Westchester Connecticut just over the border. And even more puzzled to see something called Berkshires Connecticut.

Now I really wouldn't mind at all if I woke up one morning and discovered that Westchester was suddenly in Connecticut: the taxes would be a lot lower and it would have zero impact on my ability to get into the city. But for the sake of accuracy, the Berkshires and Westchester county aren't in Connecticut.

The area called Berkshire Connecticut should probably be renamed Litchfield.

The area called Westchester Connecticut should probably be renamed Fairfield.

And the areas in New York can probably stay the way they are.

haha very true and very funny that someone else is bothered by those little geographical faux pas. I've been a denizen of those very counties for years.

We can still hope for a renaming to happen when we get some alternate history scenarios -- where Jeb Stuart can raze towns on his way up the Hudson to Albany :-)

I'm from the Old Northwest, today called the Midwest. Most of the regions in IL and IN don't have county names, they just take the name of a nearby town.

If it was worth the effort I would come up with a list of alternate names. But I guess it's not worth it.
