Fort Sumter Bug?

Playing as CSA full campaign against AI (mostly hard)

After capturing Fort Sumter on turn 1, the USA "static" artillery was captured.

I leave away with all my troops, leaving the USA capt. artillery as single garrison.

A couple turns after that, a USA Brigade "Sumter Garrison" (2 infantry; 51 power in all) appeared and started besieging my artillery.

wow that seemed a bug to me, although I ve considered as an invasion, and send several troopsback to relieve the siege...

Hi
It happened to me once.
Then i checked the forums (do a search with "fort sumter" and you will find something) and discovered its not a bug but a "feature".
There is an event (with low possibilities) that represent an USA force sent for relieve the sieged defenders of Sumter. It can happen in the first few turns (till june 61, i think).
So as the CSA you have to take your chances or leave some forces on sumter for a couple of months to defend against invasion.

Cheers!

It happened to me, didn´t notice it was an event, that single "garrison" took Charleston, I had to send a corps since it was reinforced, a huge Union fleet got there with an Admiral...There weren´t many ground troops in the end and I ended up capturing 5 o 6 transports...I didn´t check by loading as the Union, but their fleet got bombarded everytime it passed by the 3 forts...It must have been a massacre...I guess it´s better to let them go suicidal and recapture the city a few turns later.
