From Kansas to SF in 7 days!

Now that's what I call a Pony EXPRESS!
I cannot believe it takes 37 days to get from Southwest to California. Actually, 37 is OK, I guess. What I have a problem is the path (going backwards and up through Kansas), and that it takes 30 days to do that. And then from Kansas to California only 7 days!!!

Perhaps to he reported to Gray_Lensman which can add a transition link. We won't have time to update the map continuously on these problems now that Napoleon's Campaigns is due very soon.

OK, I'll call his attention to it then.

And where have you been, sir?
I tend to think that even after the link situation is straightened out - if it needs it - it will still be a coding issue. Because it's going straight from one region into another, which the game I guess intreprets as being 'next door' to each other. Which none of the west coast regions really are...

The real west in the Civil War

Frankly, I think the whole west needs to be reconsidered. Since the boxes apparently are fixed, perhaps Ageod could relabel them. Oregon was never a contested area. Rather, New Mexico was (perhaps a Ft. Union box and/or an Albuquerque/Santa Fe box representing the New Mexico region) would be useful where the Tucson box is. The Rocky Mtns (if needed at all) should be shifted to the "Great Plains" box (because Laramie is in the Rockies, not the Great Plains). Ideally, the California box could be changed to Tucson/Ft. Yuma (the only major crossing of the Colorado River), where a reasonable historical effort was made by both sides. California could be shifted to the Oregon box.
Some of the commanders, such as A.S. Johnston could start in California like they did historically, and see if they can make it east. In real life the garrison at Ft. Yuma knew of the CSA leaders crossing the nearby desert and river, but took no action.
I've mentioned in other threads that the travel times to and from the far west are highly unrealistic, and I'm glad others have noticed this too.
In other words, if you are going to rework some aspects of this region, you might consider reworking it in a bigger way.

Testing the new files (thanks), I find that a force will go from SW to CA directly, and the travel time is 7 days by foot.
Mapquest has a travel route from Tucson to SF at 873 miles.
