csa ocean naval policy

what is the best policy regarding the csa navy, how much should you invest and when

At start, when the Union blockade is still low, blockade runners (brigs) pay themselves in a matter of turns. For the rest, I will let the players answers!

whatever you do dont group you blockade runner fleet like I did. I grouped them all under semmes and got toasted in short order running the atlantic blockade. as someone else in another thread stated, seperate each ship/unit, dont stack, set to evade and go from there. that way you wont lose the whole basket in a bad turn.

a little help please, my main point was more financial, how much in percentage terms should i be spending on naval assets, what has worked best for other players and do you plan ahead or buy naval units on an ad hoc basis,

If you are playing against the AI, buy all the brigs you can afford before you buy anything else. Smash the Gulf blockade with them. If you are PBEM, expect your opponent to be aware of this strategy.
