Still undecided about the new division rules
Here is a screenie of Ben Huger. He formed a division 3 turns ago. Look at his rating....it is at 0-0-0. Likewise Jeb Magruder is 1-0-2. I am sure they were not rate this poorly before I made the division. Jeb's division was formed after Huger's. Aren't they supposed to recover after they form divisions?? Also Leonidas Polk was the first division I formed and he is still at 2-0-0, five or so turns after the divisions was formed. Not sure what is going on. Polk has had no enemy contact and has not moved in the last 3 turns.

The turn after the general gets his order, the penalties are removed, unless you failed to pay the cost (in which case the division is still there, but the penalties too and you will have to pay the cost anyway the following turn).

OK, CLovis, are you saying the war supplies cost? Will they get paid automatically as long as the stuff is there??
Nuther question. This turn I broke down a division to attach more brigades to the division. Is this not allowed?? Forget that it may not be smart!

Question 1: As soon as the cost os paid, the following turn the ratings will return to normal. Make sure when you're forming divisions, you have enough resources currently available (not just surplus because that takes into account stuff recieved at the end of the turn) to pay for them.
Question 2: Once the initial cost is paid and your ratings return to normal, you can breakdown and reform the division as much as you want and do not have to pay a 2nd time or suffer from poor ratings a 2nd time.

OK, well in the case of question number 2 above. The leader (Winder) was in command of a division. I added a couple brigades to his command, broke down the division, and tried to re-form it. It wouldn't do it. All it would let me do is combine Winder with one brigade to make him a named brigade commander. I tried every combination possible. He is activated. He WAS a division commader, so the cost prohibition shouldn't apply, right??
But why has it taken so many turns to pay the costs for the other divisional commanders?? Does the money spent on reinforcements and replacements take priority?? If so, then that is my answer, as I have spent almost every dime I make every turn.

OK, Stonewall...I think I gotcha now. The problem has been that I never had the existing monies at the time, and I spent all the projected revenue on replacements/reinforcements. We will try this. I am keeping enough money/war supplies in reserve that ALL the divisions I made from the beginning of the game should get paid for.
I think.
Mike, I hope your not reading all of this to see how dumb your opponent is!!!

Don't play as the Union much do you? I would kill to have generals that good.
On topic, I have to admit that the current reserves vs. projected revenue is a bit confusing. Is there an order in which they are spent, or was the issue that total expenditures exceeded both reserves and projected revenue?
Thanks,
Dick

Isn't it possible for the divisional costs to be recorded in the various screens (as with all the other costs), otherwise it's going to be bit tedious trying to remember how much you should have left over for each turn. Also, I thought only creating the division itself had a cost, once you have it formed, you can take out and put in as much as you like (within the limit) as long as you don't undo the create division order?

PJL...are you saying I coulda just "dropped" the new brigades on the Division and they would have joined????

To add something to a division, just select both the new brigade and the division, and the + sign should be available. If you want to swap something out, you need to disband, re-do the selection, and hit +.
I suspect your problem with Windor was that you never paid the initial cost, so he was in the "forming" stage. and when you disbanded him, he got reset to "not division capable". You should be able to just set him up as a division commander again, and everything ought to be fine.

Swang, I suspect you are right.

This is the bottom line of the problem, you spend every dime possible, and when divisions are to be paid (after your various buying), there is nothing left. I will see if I can integrate the projected cost yes.
