Hmm. Maybe it has something to do with the Victory Point situation.

this is very hard to get Europe on your side, if we were sarcastic, we could say they will arrive when you have already won

You can lower to 75 pts the Foreign Entry needed, just change the option in the Options window.
As for the rules:
a) play with the political options
b) if you have more morale than the enemy, you have 50% each turn to get +1 FE
c) if you have more VP than the enemy, you have 50% each turn to get +1 FE

Of course b) and c) cancel each other out if not moving in the same dierction, so both VP and NM must be in favor to get any movement in Foreign Entry.

true, statistically if one has a higher morale and the other has a higher VP count, the FE don't move...

hm, I don't understand.
do you mean the enemy has the same rules ? While I can increase FE - he might lower it - if he has better morale or better VP ?
or do both have to better then then enemy to start moving the FE ?
ps = where can you see this FE ? I've looked yesterday and I don't find this figure.

FE = Foreign Entry

F9 page. Union try to lower FE, CSA try to raise it, but both share the same rules (in opposite direction as you can guess)

Hi Pocus , i have a problem with Foreign Entry.
I'm playing the 1861 july campaign as CSA.
I begin wit patch 102e.
In 1863 i win the game with 200 nmp .
I continued playing the game and update the game later of the win with patch 103.
In 1864 got the +100 points of FE but the English and French Units are fixed
more turns later of this.
It's a bug ,or because i win the game the event not run??
May be for the change of versions???
Thanks a lot

what about this event about the French ? I had 35 FE and it was going to rise the upcoming turns - I had the lead in NM and VP.
then all the sudden this event comes and says - France won't recognize the CSA in return for cotton.
What ? I didn't do anything in the political options towards cotton ? Why does this event trigger - there's no reason cause I didn't "push" things and I was having good prospects for FE. Or is there some fixed where this "harsh" event fires ?

The event is pure chrome, you didn't do anything wrong (or at all, it is a scripted historical event). Do not worry. Read the historical descriptive text.

Alll: uh, read your history....England was not in a condition to intervene, bankrupt, etc. France (well, Little Napoleon) wanted to, but would not without England.
They didn't intervene, even at some moments of decent opportunity.
How about Russia intervening on the Union side? Don't like the idea? well.....

what is the level you checked in the Foreign Entry line, Options window? It should unlock them.

A bit OT, but I have to disagree. Britain was certainly in a position to intervene if it had so decided (whether such intervention by itself would have changed the outcome of the war is another question). In mid-1862 the British Cabinet was discussed offering mediation to the two sides, with recognition of the South to follow & likely war with the North (if Lincoln refused mediation), & had contact with CSA agents regarding how the post-war borders should be drawn. IMHO, if Lee wins Antietam, there would be a greater-than-50% chance that the British would intervene, & if Antietam is not fought at all there might still have been a serious chance of British intervention.

My level in Foreign Entry is normal in Options window.
The level showed in the Objetives menu (Key F9) now is +100. It went up and down along the play , but when it's reached +100 remainded fixed and never down or up again.
The problem it's that the english and french units are fixed and the Foreign Entry not occurs.
I thought that when the hight FE level is reached the forign entry is automaticly and if the down level is reached the FE is desactived forever.

I'd like to see an option for an increased chance of lesser foreign intervention
(naval only)

Is there a chance to alter FE like splitting the foreign support between Union and CSA? Sometimes you would get the two nations on your side, another time just one. I know it is not historical, that French and British sympathies were with the CSA but I would welcome such randomization. I would spice the political part of the game.

but does this mean - that if you don't have FE before that event - the French will never intervene (like the text in the event says). Cause that would mean - that it would be impossible for France to intervene ?

England would not intervene because of Emancipation Proclamation. If England did not intervene, Fr would not intervene. They were too busy getting their taste of guerilla war in Mexico, which they richly deserved. L3
