G'day all,
I bought this game last weekend, and I don't no why, but its entertaining me no end, and I'm not really sure why! I love the music the graphics are pleasant to the eyes. I am still working my way thru the mechanics of the game, I haven't played a campaign yet, but have played the tutorials several times, as well as the 3 small scenarios, tonight I have secured a victory in the first 2 scenarios. I don't fully understand the game play, but I'm getting there, I am happy so far, and looking forward to playing a campaign. Its good to be able to enjoy a game when your still learning about it. Take a bow AGEOD for an entertaining piece of software.

Goodwood,
I really agree with your sentiments and I am still trying to complete the tutorials !! The mechanics and save game system are different from what I am used to so its taking longer to sink in. There is something capivating about the game that I cannot describe as I am getting frustrated with the tutorial but am loving the game. Weird huh?
To Pocus and developers, Great Game, especially when I get to it!!!

It becoming more interesting, I started playing the full campaign last night, the newspaper clippings associated with the message bar are quite atmospheric. A very nice touch. A person like myself who has limited knowledge of the ACW, this feature certainly helps to immerse one self into CW period of time, not to mention broadening my knowledge of the war.

Hi bruce205,
are you stuck in the tutorial? Is it broken somewhere or not clear enough? Or just to much tiny text? Don't hesitate to ask if there is a problem. :)

Glad you enjoying it. More then 10 years ago I have played a game called north and south. Game was ok, but what really cought my eye was a text about ACW general named Lee. I started reading more and more about ACW. Buying games and such... Now more then 10 years later I am completely ACW nutts :bonk: . I can read, eat and sleep ACW :niark: .
And best of all is I can play this game :coeurs: .

Primasprit,
As a matter of fact the very small font used is rather bothersome but I have more trouble seeing through the translucent unit icon when you merge tabs on the unit detail box (there are 2 red arrows that show up when you are positioned correctly) Does that make sense? Not a knock against game but I find some of the user interface designs rather clumsy. The whole user interface at least in the tutorial makes me feel left handed (I'm right handed by the way :) I am not an old fogey and do not wear glasses yet either.
The game is great though and I will get through this awkwardness!!
Thanks for your thoughts.

bruce,
For a bigger merge icon try this: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=3867

By the way, I find the user interface very easy.
Only problem I really had was trying to see the merging icon.
Guess I'm just used to playing BoA.

Ageod's games are a bit different then the usual "click on unit->click on menu->click on map->repeat"

You just drag n' drop!

What Graphics sub folder is it found in?

 There is a merging icon?
I even started the game and searched for it... I never realized that there is such an icon. Actually it is really hard to see but rather unnecessary in my opinion as the combining of units work well if I drop one stack on another.

I am left handed, maybe this is why I like the interface. :)
Actually I find it quite straightforward, the only issue I had sometimes was that I accidentally combined units if I reorganized them in a region. Now I am more careful and lock them to be sure that they don't merge with another stack.

How on earth can you lock units?

Right-click the tab of the unit

Or Ctrl-L to lock/unlock all stacks.

Do yourself a favor and add "flavor" to the game by reading up on the Civil War -- I suggest Shelby Foote's 3 part series --- well-written and they really give you a sense of the men who commanded (makes those leaders more interesting!) and also of the horrific nature of the war.....

...also helps you understand why units are always delayed! Nothing was on-time in the ACW! (Well, the arrival of the Monitor in Hampton Roads was one....but not many others!).
