The beta team has worked on a PDF document (29 pages!) that will give you a complete overview of the military leaders in the game, their main features, date of appearance and quite a few other pieces of information that will help you play...

You can get it here immediately: http://www.rogepost.com/n/5094685446

:cwboy:

NB: we shall include it in the next patch as well. :coeurs:

We did our best. Next, but not so soon :siffle: , we plan to put a list of all units and their stats and abilities. This is a bigger project so we will need more time.
Enjoy it this one for now :sourcil:

Thanks!! Very informative... and It even have portraits!! :coeurs:

About the units stats list... It would be cool, but you can check them on the game...
I think it would be better to do some kind of document with the main game events: dates, triggers, effects... :siffle:

Cheers!

You can check units in the game but only after you buy them :niark: .
Anyway, I agree that events would be perhaps more needy. I'll talk to PhilThib.

And here I was planning on using my exceptional Python programming skills to retrieve the info from the unit files directly and present in a timely fashion... :cwboy:

Nice list. Could use a line of space between the leaders, so the text does not run all together.

Robert Ransom's name is misspelled as Robert Ramson.

Cadmus Wilcox was commanding a division in Longstreets corp - during second Manassas in 1862. So his appearance in the 64 group is off imho.

Wilcox is an interesting case. He did in fact command division sized forces during the Seven Days battles and 2nd Bull Run. However, he was not at Antietam (was Wilcox wounded at 2nd Bull Run or was Longstreet not happy with his performance), and by Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg he was back down to brigade command (in R.H. Anderson's division). It was not until the Spring 1864 campaign that he was a full time division commander again. This is why I suggested 1864.

Are there any Wilcox experts out there that can explain the apparent demotion after 2nd Bull Run? I have yet to purchase a detailed book solely on the 2nd Manassas campaign...However, it is on my to-do list since it is one of my favorite battles :niark:

Wilcox was not demoted. He was given temporary command of what would later be Pickett's division. Based on his spotty performance, Longstreet reccommedned Pickett for promotion to divisional command, which was granted.

He was not given a division until August 1863. He took over Dorsey Pender's Division of Hill's Corps after Pender died at Gettysburg.

Wilcox' 2nd Bull Run command was a provisional division of 3 brigades from Longsteet's former command...he was also in command of one of the brigades (he happened to be the senior brigadier I guess).

That command was later absorbed into Anderson's division, and after Anderson was wounded at Antietam, Wilcox stepped in as temporary commander for a brief time (Sept-Nov 1862).

He was then back down to a brigade commander until after Gettysburg, where like Stonewall says, he got Pender's old division.

Hi
Reading the list i have found some errors (sorry! :innocent :)
Here they are

- K Schurze: most of the information is blank.
- Natahaniel P. Banks: most of his informations are blank and also have his special comments all mixed up (they refers to Smith and Lyons... :tournepas )
- We have Pinkerton spy details but not a word about Belle Boyd!! :grr: :niark:

And... most of the confederate leaders pages badly needs a blank line to separate between leaders.

Hope it helps!! :coeurs:
Cheers!

Actually, K.Schurze should correctly be spelled Carl Schurz. Commanded a division in the XI Corps (high proportion of German troops, referred to by other troops as 'The Dutchmen" at Gettysburg, amongst other engagements. Another division commander in the same corps was Adoph von Steinwehr.

Having trouble with that link... For me it opens the file hosting service's upload page/sales page instead of a pdf or a link to a pdf. Do I need to subscibe to the service to get to the download page?

P.S. What a fantastic game! I'm finally starting to grasp the nuts and bolts of the game, and am in awe of the work that the AGEOD crew has done.

Send me an email at contact@ageod.com with the thread title as subject, and I'll email you a zip with the pdf file (1.7 Mb)

I notice that at least two Union leaders do not have their Bad Spy Network traints this guide says they are supposed to have: McClellan and Sherman.

Since there seems to be something "iffy" with the download, I've set up a mirror here: http://folk.uio.no/amveha/aacw/ACW_Leaders_List_01.pdf

(Provided this is OK for Philippe et al?)

I spotted a few micro errors here and there (hasty copy paste mostly) and I'll fix them today. Thanks :indien:

You're welcome. Do note, however, that since I set it up, it has been included in the newest patch (in a slightly updated version, too, methinks) :)
