Synchronized attack

Mon Aug 29, 2011 1:17 pm

Recently in my PBEM game, I ordered two Corps to attack an adjacent region, pressed the synchronized move button, and only one Corps actually attacked, therefore I lost the battle. They were not attacking across a river or anything like that, both Corps had good cohesion, and they were both activated.

This is the second time this has happened in this PBEM. Previously I ordered three Corps to attack, and only two of them actually moved to attack.

I'm starting to question if I maybe forgot to move one of them, but I doubt that.. Are there any factors that can cause a Corps not to attack?

I think you misunderstand how it works.

Synchronized movement works for Corps and Armies in the same area moving into another area so they arrive at the same time.

If you have two corps of the same army in adjacent areas moving into another area for an attack this is “Marching to the Sound of the Guns” (MTSG). It works best if all corps have attack mode selected.

If the second corps did not attack then either it was a corps from a different army and you didn’t have attack selected or it was held up by something else.

If you send the save game file from the turn before and the turn where the problem occurred someone may be able to look it over and see why it happened.

Both Corps were from the same army and attack mode was selected. I'll see if I can get a saved game the next time it happens. Thanks for the reply.

Were both corps in the same region at the start of the move/turn ?

I’m his opponent in this game, and I’ve been thinking about this. I think synchronization only works if the corps and armies start in the same region. One should hit the synchronization button of the army, that will then automatically make sure the corps button is synchronized (check this). Then move the army and corps from one region to another, and it should be the same days.

If it is just corps in the region, then it won’t work.

Ah, that must be what it as. I don't think I had the Army stack in the same region. Thanks Charles.
