I bought a blockade squadron with 8 ships. When I put it in an area that requires 8 naval elements I appear to be 4 elements short!!?? Is a naval element = to 2 ships??

Hi Capt Cliff!

The more likely it is that you need 12 naval elements to block that area. :)

Certainly, a blockade squadron is composed of 8 naval elements. Anyway, to find out how many elements compose a particular unit you just have to click on that unit and you will see its elements in the Elements Panel.

Green water and brown water blockades can be tricky. Sometimes enemy elements ashore will impact how many ships you need.

And you don't see those till you move forces there.

Move the force in and see what the region tells you. The region will show a message if you place the cursor on the water. F'rinstance "You need 4 elements to blockade the ports." So, send in 12-16 elements into the James, for example, then pull out the excess later (preferably with Farragut, cause he runs forts better.)
