Playing the Union for only my 2nd or 3rd time and was wondering what the requirements were for a unit when you are required to keep 12 units within 2 regions of Richmond in the '61 KY campaign? Does a supply unit, field hospital, or general count? Additionally, does one division count as a unit or 18 if full?

Thanks for any help.

* A Division is a "unit". Single brigades of one regiment (element ) would actually be best, AFAIK. Naturally, stringing out a whole bunch of these woukd be subject to fierce counterattack - use your judgment, try to fulfill the requirement, but protect them and try to dig in and stay.

* I don't think non-combat units count.

You must be fulfilling the req'mt as it expires on the last Turn concerned.

What was the other thread on this?

Didn’t it say that leaders count and brigades count but divisions only count as one unit.

It also had a map of which areas counted as within 2 of Richmond, and it was not every one of them.

Sorry for the double post but I found the thread: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=21984

Check this out. Maybe it answers all the questions.

The map is an attached file.

I have not tried it, but Jim said he had fulfilled the requirement moving there 10 generals (in 10 different stacks). Remember that generals are supply units. Because of this, and if I'm not wrong, we can say that can be used any type of units. ;)

Yes, sending 10 generals works, at least in 1.16. It's a bit "gamey" though, so I rarely send more than 9. :mdr:

BTW, in 1861 the Manassas newpaper requirement requires occupation of Manassas. Substituting occupation of Richmond, F'burg, etc., doesn't count.

September 30th, 1861

Horace Greeley: General, you did not take Manassas. There will be a stiff editorial in the Herald tomorrow.

General McDowell: But, but...I took Richmond! I made 'em skedaddle! I've got Jeff Davis's bourbon in my tent!

HG: Sorry, General, that's not what we asked. You must learn to keep the public happy.
