Regional Control & RR repairs?

Sun Mar 13, 2011 12:13 pm

Is there a formula for troop composition or numbers to gain control of a region with out a town?

Must troops remain stationary in order to repair RRs, or can they advance?

I have had trouble gaining sufficient control of regions to provide supply, let alone control the region. What is the best way of doing this?

When repairing rail lines I have several times not succeeded, even with some large units. Also can units repair and still move out of the region? Is there a particular number or power of troops required to accomplish the task?

A single element can repair a railroad. A Militia, or a Cavalry works just fine. It takes 10 days of the elements movement to repair it. The element must begin the turn in the region to be repaired, but it can move out after the 10 day repair period.

Not sure why your having troubles.

An engineer accompanying an element can speed up repair to 5 days.

I think region control increases as a function of patrol points, but it is one of the more mysterious (to me) parts of the game. Also, it seems to be on a per day basis, though I don't think the force has to be stopped. A large corps might take control just marching thru, while an infantry regiment will take several turns.
