Hello folks, question about "victory"....

So, what point differential do I need to get any kind of victory?
I just finished my 2nd GC and I had 2184 more points (I did not have all cities). I got a stalemate.
Am I close to a victory on that? My morale never seemed too good. I got it up into the 140s at one point then suffered several large defeats (That I did not agree with).
Oh, don't tell me EXACT numbers. Just am I getting close.

The objectives screen tells you your NM and your enemy's NM. Victory occurs when one side's NM exceeds the stated bounds.

So points have nothing to do with it?

VPs mostly determine how much stuff you get from the Drafts and Financials pages. NM is more important.

It's NM that has an important effect on draft and financials as well as moral (i.e. cohesion) of your troops.
VP are a way to determine the winner should the NM limit not be reached.
VP and NM difference between North and South may lower or raise Foreign Intervention by one each turn.

I had always believed this to be backwards. NM is for victory, production, and moral
e, but VP for the special options. Otherwise VP is even less important than now. However, I shall try to run some tests and see.

Dang, you're right. As NM increased and VP decreased in my test, the draft and financial potentials increased.

Yeah, offhand, I would say NM affects almost everything. As far as Big Pic stuff goes, it is the central category, IMO.
VPs are not unimportant - having the VP lead is a Good Thing, but NM is key.

VP's also affect the financial options. NM affects draft. That's why money becomes a non factor by the end of the war for either side.

That's what I thought. But it was not borne out in my test described above.

What about Econonics?
I have done a bit of industrialization in the north. Initially in New York and Illinois, and now as I have taken Missouri, I did it there for a while (to make sure I was locally producing beans, bullets and bandaids, and now I am doing it in Arkansas and Tenessee to do the same thing.
Only one level, and only those initial two, and then the three conquered states.
I am swimming in war materials, and can't keep up in cash.
Its the summer of 1863.
Is that pretty much the way it goes for Union?
Is there anyway to emphasize the every turn cash income vice war materials?
Thanks

Remember that industrialization tends to use money while increasing your war supply production. If you lack for cash, industrialization (esp as Uniom) is the first thing to cut. I like to flood the shipping box with transports, which can give a nice amount of cash and/or WS every turn, depending on which you lack.

Do you think some industrialization in a place with a crappy transportation Network like Western Arkansas is a good idea, so you can get what you need locally instead of trying to ship it overland, where I assume the supply tube is going to be bottlenecked? (ie, from supply producers in Illinois for instance)
In other words make the supply in Fayetteville and Fort Smith for the push on Little Rock from the back door? Or am I overthinking this supply thing?
I can probably get rid of the Tennessee ones, the pipeline into there is pretty good via rail and river.

Getting to Fayetteville is the hard part- once you're there, Little Rock is a stroll away, comparatively. Even beseiging Fayetteville in winter, tho, I've been able to pull supply from the Ft Smith-Springfield-Jeff City-St Looee axis. Just bring along a couple supply wagons as a target for your supply chain.

Wagons, I definately got religion on
So I am probably overthinking this supply thing a bit.
Thats good to know.
For me Fayetteville was easy. Then the Rebs concentrated all his forces, in that region, in Fort Smith, and that was before I started getting a good handle on this Army-Corps-Division mechanic.
Now I am kicking his arse, I just need to get Meade promoted (He is out there as my advancing corps commander)) so he can take over the army from Halleck.

Ah, dangit, sorry, I git Fayetteville and Ft Smith switched in my head. Ft Smith is tough b/c you have to cross mountains and a river to get to it from F-Ville.
