Where did the CSA Capital go?

So I was playing solitaire with the latest beta patch (very nice BTW!) and I took Richmond. I already had New Orleans at the time.

Now I can't figure out where the CSA moved their capital. I visually searched the entire map for 30 minutes trying to spot the little capital symbol, but I couldn't find it.

So two questions:

1. Where should I look?
2. Am I missing something? Should there be an easier way to know where they have moved the capital?

Try Charleston, Atlanta and/or Mobile. They may not have "moved" it yet (sometimes it doesn't get moved until after Richmond is taken). IIRC, when you move your capital, you are given 3 places to move it to (or is it 2). The south starts with Atlanta and New Orleans and ?? as their options.

None of the above have the Capital symbol. And I took Richmond which is what forced the move.

Hi guys! :)

I guess if you look in the book, page of the objectives, the enemy city that has the highest NM punctuation will be the enemy´s capital (I would say 10 points of NM).

Regards!

Unfortunately...no. The number one item listed is DC with 50. Number two is Richmond with 10. And I own both. All others are 1, 2 or 3.

So you can't use the Objectives List.

I wish it was shows somewhere on that screen however. It would make it much easier if right above the line showing:

Capital: Washington DC it showed the CSA capital.

If you were to load the CSA side and go into their political options, when you are looking at the 'Move Capital' spot, does it say "move from _____"?

If you took Richmond before they were able to move the capital then I believe they have no capital. You have captured it!

Really? Is that how it works? I figured that, if you captured a capital it would automatically get relocated to a free city...but maybe not.

If you are right, once again, this games proves you learn something new every day. If that is the case, are there severe penalties the CSA experience having no capital?

IMHO, I think that´s an excellent Soloswolf´s idea :w00t: ... Why don´t you try it, AndrewKurtz? ;)

I did. The Capital is still Richmond so, capturing it doesn't force a move. They effectively have no head of government.

So that leads to the question...are there penalties they face on a turn-by-turn basis for having no capital?

Make sure you are using the default terrain display - I once was going crazy looking for the CSA capital, but I use the MilControl map a lot - it's not displayed on that.

A game I'm playing right now has Atlanta as the capital. I haven't seriously threatened Richmond as of Sept '62. Somehow, the AI decided Atlanta was to be the capital.

They would have taken a serious NM hit. This will reduce the morale of their armies as well as the production and income in other parts of the country. Also, the capital gives a bonus to income\conscripts\supplies produced in that region...they will not receive this bonus.

One thing I am unsure about: If you have lost control of your capital can you still use the other political and monetary options (besides move capital city)?

I believe also if you hold your capital you have a chance of recovering one NM per turn.
