Supply deep in CSA territory

O.k. scenario here I'm trying to understand. USA lands at Columbus Georgia, takes the depot there. I still control Ft. Gadsen in Florida, so it should blockade river supply for the USA. I also moved enough ships into the river and blockaded the harbor in Columbus Georgia. How is the union able to support an approximately 36,000 force there for years? I also set some level 4 and 5 entrenchments along the river as well to see if that would choke off supply. I don't have the save files anymore, but just curious as to what I was overlooking for the USA to supply such a large Army there, with no land links and supposedly being blockaded by land and sea. This was on version 1.15, the final update.

How about the CSA operating in Southern Illinois with the Ohio blockaded for a year?

What does it take in terms of riverene units to block flow of supply?
