How do supplies move along off-map links?

If I have a depot in an off-map box, can supply wagons in on-map regions adjacent to it draw supply from it? Can it draw supply from depots or large cities in other off-map boxes? I'm thinking especially about the supply situation of the Southwest off-map box. Can a depot there draw supply from California? And can it send supply to forces operating in Texas, IT, and Kansas?

yes, you can draw one link away... As for the actual transit of supply points, it can be done if the distance in days is not too huge between the 2 regions.

So 40 "ticks" appears to be the rule. In the context of the California/Southwest/Texas route, if it isn't raining or snowing it looks like a depot in Southwest could draw supplies from California and a unit on-map in a Texas or IT region adjoining the board edge could draw supply from that depot.

I guess if I was really serious about this I could establish a depot up in Kansas and feed supply from my national grid into SW (along the Santa Fe Trail, no doubt - get your kicks on Route 66). But only in summer.
