is this the most complicated of the big 3 games?

By that I mean, is AACW the most complicated to learn of all the AGEOD big strategy games, and in that list I put Birth of America 2 and Napoleon's Campaigns?

I like AGEOD games I do, even if I find the combat a bit odd. However, this game looks head and shoulders more complicated than anything they have released EXCEPT the World War One game.

Also how many scenarios are in this game? is there an over all grand scenario or is it limited like Napoleon's Campaigns

This game has a full campaign with the ability to draft and train your troops. Many campaigns with different Campaign game options. I find it no more difficult than NC or WIA2.

Hi!

Yes i would say AACW is the most "full featured" game of the three (economics, unit production...) and in consequence somewhat more complex than the other two.
As Prussian Prince explains, there is teh full game campaign (by far the most played scenario) in two versions,(starting in april or june 61) and then there are shorter full war scenarios with advanced starts (1862, 1863 1864).
Also there are a bunch of shorter "battle scenarios" (Shiloh, Gettysburg, 1 Manssas) that only last six turns or so.
The forum member Bigus has done another half a dozen or so of excellent scenario some are shorter Battle scenarios (Vicksburg, Atlanta, Kentucky camping) while other are intermediate ones that cover only parts of the map (Eastern Theater, Western Theater, Trans Missisippi...) and last for a year or so.

PS: The WW1 game is very complex, but also a completely different engine than the rest of AGEOD's games.

Oh I see. I had no idea that the World War one game had a new engine. I hear its not doing so well though. Man that WW1 game looks complex

back to AACW, I think it looks complex because it adds in so much economic features

Can that be turned off or adjusted to have the AI handle it at first

In fact the newest engine is the AGEOD proper one (AACW, WIA, NCP and in the future Rise of Prussia and Vainglory of Nations).
WW1 engine uses an evolution of the oldest Great Invasions game engine (form 2004/2005), a game by AGEOD boss Philippe Thibaut from before he founded AGEOD, and developed with another programmer (Calvinus).
The game had lots of problems when launched but for what i've read its much better now after some intensive patching ;)
But definitely the game engine is less "polished" than AGEODs proper one.

Hi again!
No, you can't turn off the economics.
But really its not a "real" economic game. AACW is a pure wargame and the economic and polictial options are 100% geared for war.
It's only that the game offers you several ways and strategies to get hold of what you need to wage war (men, money, war materials...)
This economic part is not that complex or deep.

Ok thanks a ton! I do have three AGEOD games looking to add more but I need to learn this system a lot better first, I am coming from hexed based games
