One time I was doing a Union 1864 campaign. I had James McPherson and 30,000 men besiege Atlanta, and they captured 95, 000 prisoners!! That practicely rid the entire western theater of enemy troops.

The Yankees had 2 armies and many other small untis, with a total power of about 2500 points. A huge force.

But I launched my attack with my Army of the Northeast Virginia, the largest Army of the CSA, with more than 6000 power points!

Three rounds, and the battle ends with our complete victory

In defense of the Union force, you did have them outnumbered 2 to 1 and Mr. Banks was in command.... ;)

Nevertheless, very well done and congratulations

In this game you couldn't manage your troops in the battle, but only send them to the fight. So you must outnumer the enemy, or be the stronger in power points.
Sometimes you loose a battle when you have a quite large supremacy on the enemy....

Finally, I posted this thread because I think it was a great battle, for the high number of units destroyed. I'm not Napoleon I know. But he also teached to us that you must be in number of 3 to attack 1, and the surprise will give you an additional advantage.

thank you for your precious threads

I have the same kind of battle in my pbem against DarthMath.

The Army of the Potomac under Grant has been surrounding Richmond for several months when i launched the final assault.

In a four days battle, Lee lost 81.000 men, 86 regiments and 21 batteries, when i lost only 1 regiment and 38.000 men. I believe the confederates troops were already exhausted due to lack of supplies.

It involved the complete destruction of the Northern Virginia Army and the victory of the game.
