Volunteer Hosts

I think we all have had that moment when we thought an opponent has pulled a move out his hat that they shouldn't have. While 99% of people doing PBEM our honorable, the fact is the ability and thus the temptation to cheat is there, which can lead to doubt and bad feelings even if nobody did actually cheat.

That is why I am offering my services as a neutral host for any that would like to take advantage of it.

I would like to keep this thread going as well, for any other volunteers who would like to step forward.

You may PM or email me with your game particulars and emails.

Nice proposal.

But players wishing to take advantage of your proposal should send you their option settings : how many "teleportation" allowed, delay before fight occurs, attrition historicity, foreign intervention, ...

Absolutely, I would need all the settings they wished to play with, which would not be a problem since they apply only at game set up, I can run as many games as needed.

I could also police any house rules if necessary.

BTW, I have v1.13b and I also have the KY mod senario.

Very good, it seems to me extraordinary, and as soon has a rival would be happy to request this service

I am playing a PBEM in which we allow redeployment and also have a solo game going where I set human player to no redeployment. When I load up the PBEM game the redeployment arrow is grayed out.

Speaking of this, a lot of games link settings to the game file. AACW seems to go with whatever current settings are from the Main Menu. Is this very complicated to change in a possible future patch? (I'm guessing yes but figured I'd mention it.)

I agree. It would be nice if all the current settings (at least those related to game play), would be embedded in the saved game files. This would actually save me some troubleshooting time reproducing game actions when someone posts a saved game complaining about a game behavior that is altered by certain options.

Well, if I have to, I will just keep notes on the settings of each game.

Redeemer,
Would such changes be recored in the log file? I may be wrong about that. I think it would be the .opt files in the settings folder. To bad the game does not have a way of locking game settings for PBEM games only unlocks the setting for victory or if a side surrenders. I think I just repeated what 77NY post said.

Question for Lensman: Could the log function of the game also log the game settings? Would that be to hard to setup? I guess we must be honor bound.
