Attributes AND can this game be played Tcp/Ip?

Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:52 am

I was under the impression that a Generals traits (artillerist, Fast Mover ect) added to the whole stack regardless of if he was the Commander or second in command.

I just read a post from July 2007 that said that NONE of the traits except leader traits counted in a stack.

It also said that even if you had a division in a Corp of 3/0/0 it would help but the traits didn't count.

Now, I have always wondered if putting Longstreet, Hood, Huger, ect in the SAME stack helped because of thier high stats or to put them as Leaders with generic Generals (talking about division and Corps) if thier traits and stats don't count.

Could someone shed some light on this please...

ALSO..Can this game be played tcp/ip?

Thanks

(This doesn't have anything to do with strategies; best to put it in the main game forum :) )

The attributes differ. Some apply to a stack if the general is commanding the stack; some apply to the stack as long as the general is part of the stack. E.g. artillerist applies even if the general isn't commanding, while fast mover requires the general to be commander for it to work (I think). There are also a few that only apply to a unit Hobbes' most excellent "AACW Quick Reference Guide" has an overview of which are which at the bottom of the first post.

AACW can't be played directly over TCP/IP, but there is a TCP/IP utility called "Ares" that helps with transferring and setting up PBEM games. Truth be told, I'm not sure that it's included with AACW, but if you have NCP (which I know includes Ares), you can use it with AACW.
