I thought the requirements for promotion were 4 congratulations for action in the field or being seniority rank of 1?
U.S. Grant got congratulated for his utter destruction of the army around Nashville and he is now seniority 1 and is promotable. Is that right? Did that change somewhere along the line? or is a 3 star as far as he can go?
Learned something new as well. I knew that Generals can get ticked and cost you NM and VP if you pass over them for Army command but never experienced it with only rank. Sherman was angry for Fitz John Porter and McClarnard (sp) both being promoted before him but their action in the field was far superior to his unfortunately.
I have an almost invincible Corps with Grant and Sherman leading it. They have just laid a path of destruction through Nashville. The poor Army of the Tennessee fought to the last man with the last battle consisting only of 1 artillery and the Army HQ which got promptly wiped out.
