Anyway to show region names on the map?

Sat Sep 01, 2007 11:06 pm

In the tutorial they keep bringing up regions but the only way I can see the name is to mouse over the areas and check the mouse tip. Is there any way to show the regions on the map with their names?

On a side note I played my first tutorial and even though the tutorial said I won I got my butt kicked by the CSA. :bonk:

(Edit: Oops you can see the region names)
Often you can click on an event and it will take you to the region.

Somehow when you play for a while you no longer feel such a need to know where every region is - everything just falls into place.

Just keep playing and all will become clear :)

The real game is the main campaign, you can get some strange things happening in the tutorial and the small scenarios - but treat them all as tutorials and don't worry too much about the results. The main campaign seems fairly well balanced without such oddities.

Cheers, Chris

Zoso, not sure if you are American or not. If not, then it is pretty much new geography for you. It's one thing to know the shape of the USA, another to understand where states are in relation to each other, and then another thing entirely to know where particular areas are within a state.

I live in Virginia and still often can't recall the general area that a region in Virginia might be located. :siffle: I will be having a similar problem when I play NCP. Then to boot they will probably be old region names, not necessarily more current names.

So it is a very good geography lesson. Easiest thing to do is zoom out and then set the map filter to show 'States'. Find the state, then zoom down a bit and scan around the particular state. Eventually you get a more refined concept of the US, but it takes time.

All of this applies even if you are American. And doubly so because the American educational system doesn't teach geography. At all.

The first filter (military control) shows region names.
