EDIT: Answer - You need to order replacements. The tooltip in the replacement window is merely showing how many you have orderered, not how many elements on the map are saying there undermanned. Would still like a better explanation of the process by which men are replaced into elements that are undermanned. Specifically if there is a size for a replacement unit (i.e. 1 replacement of Line infantry = 1000 men).
2) Help - Norfolk clearly tells me the exit zones for the harbor, try as I may for Wilmington and Charleston it will not tell me the exit points.
EDIT: Answer - The city Icon itself is actual broken into several areas one of which is the Harbor (if the city has a harbor), mousing over the harbor portion of the City Icon will show you the harbor exit zones.
3) Suggestion - For brown-water blockades it says I need "units" This doesn't make any sense. So I can use 6 one ship element units to enforce a blockade but 2 6 ship element units cant blockade. This seems to make blockade units only really usefull for the blockade box's. Blockades should be changed to the number of actual ship elements and not a unit number.
4) Suggestion - Managing large cities with multiple units in them becomes extremly problematic to see the standard mouse-over city tolltip. Is there some way I am missing that will hide all unit icons (so you just see the unit count flag number in a city.
EDIT: Answer - You can easily put units into cities my making sure the "release to place unit in structure" is flashing in the tooltip by dragging and dropping a stack icon onto a city, if you right click instead of simply releasing it will auto-hide the unit instead of leaving the icon as the currently active icon (and this visible). This is explained in Tutorial 1.
5) Help - Ok probably something in the change/patch log I missed. How do I get Army HQ's. Im on patch 1.05g and i've gone as far as Nov'61 in my campaign. But I have never seen an Army HQ in the support tab for reinforcements nor have I ever seen any of my 3-stars with Army HQ elements (which McDowell has). So its very confusing will I be able to order the HQ or is there someway I will get HQ's added as elements to my 3+ stars??
EDIT: Answer - They will appear in the support tab of Reinforcements when available, They are available only at specific times.
6) Suggestion - Ok I figured out the command points and Army/Corp/Division structure. What doesn't make sense is that its more efficient to have the army leader stack at Corp level to utilize its command points for its stack. (This is like getting a 2 star general for free) This is especially true for 3 star Army leaders that give CP bonuses to its own stack. From my knowledge Army leaders didn't lead Corp into battle they stayed in the rear and managed the HQ. I am not sure what should be done to fix this but it doesn't make alot of sense. Maybe Army leaders should gets a -75%cp for the army stack so that they can maybe hold a rear guard division and some reserves, but most of the time youll want to keep a seperate Corp stack with your army or leave your Army stack in a rear area.
Edit: Answer - Leaders not in a Corp will not recieve certain bonuses to their rating. In other words leaders in the Army stack and not in a Corps stack will not recieve the bonus.
7) Suggestion - I was having one heckuva time playing the game til I found the E R T Y keys and the ctrl -E R T Y, they were a lifesaver. What would be nice is to be able to manually lock units (namely militia garrisons) so there not in the unit cycle when using the keys, they could then be in the cycle for using alt - E R T Y. Also some keys for cycling through new units brought to strength would be awesome.
EDIT: Answer - Use S to sentry units, there is a little envelope on the unit one who is sentried will have its envelope grey out (might be redded out

8) Suggestion - In my first Union game I went to October, McDowell NEVER activated. Thats a 1 in 3 (2 strat rating) chance over like 14 turns. He shuold have activated like 4 times. I understand the need to reflect the slow moving union generals but they did actually move out from time to time. The total randomness is a bit much. I would suggest that every leader who doesn't get activated gets a +1 to his strat roll for the next turn so, eventually hitting a 6where they will activate, this should at least be done for Army leaders as sometimes they were essentially forced to move by the Politics. Also they should get a free activation based on events, namely it seems that the bull run event (papers push for offensive) should give McDowell an activation on the next turn to simulate Bull Run I.
9) Help - I have been playing alot of the battle scenarios to get the flow of battles figured out. Just want to verify that if you simultaneous move an Army that the corps will only follow if its in the same region as the Army you just gave the move order.
10) Help/Suggestion - Purchasing River ships in PA (puts em in philly), Ohio (clevland), or Illinois(Chicago) makes the ships worthless as you can't get them into the interior where you can use them. Is there someway to change the city where there built? If not please change this so ships from the states can be put to use.
Edit: Answer - River ships can be used in Coastal waters and can help in Brown water blockades by entering rivers and estuaries that empty into the ocean (just like Ironclads). Cleveland produced ships can get to heartland rivers through the Erie Canal. Still curious if Chicago produced ships can do this.
