Which is Best against the AI?

Fri Aug 19, 2011 12:07 am

I have been play the Union but the funky AI which sends units higgley-piggley into Union territory is getting tiresome.

So ... CSA vs the AI or USA vs the AI?

Playing against the CSA AI is much better than playing against the Union AI, the Union AI has almost the exact opposite problem as the CSA AI in that it is extremely passive as it waits to build up an overwhelming superiority in troops before making any serious moves. Also, since the AI on either side is not very good at forming a coherent offensive strategic plan (take objective A-establish supply lines-take objective B-establish new supply lines-so on and so forth...) so the odd raids you see will seem more realistic and viable from the CSA perspective- they are aren't trying to occupy key territory to further the war effort, just trying to win some kind of major victory in Northern territory.

Basically, unless you are content in waiting until 1863 before the Union does anything, your frustrations with the CSA AI would only be magnified playing against the Union AI.

The AI can be fun, but PBEM really brings a whole new dimension to the game. If you want to play, I just finished one so am ready for another.

Can we add the Full Activation Rule?

I'm happy with the CSA.

A little more details on raiding, how about.

Raiding: Stacks of any size may always be in:
1. their own controlled territory (anywhere, determined by presence of control flag) or
2. home territory (CSA states or Union states), or
3. within 3 regions of another one of their own stacks of 4 or more command points, or
4. in KS, MO, KY, WV, MD or DE (the border states).
Units that are anywhere else are "raiders" and must contain a leader and units totalling at least 4 command points.

PM me for my email.
