McClellen doesn't take command

Tue Mar 01, 2011 2:46 am

In a pbem game the McClellen event has not taken place by early March 1862. As the Union player I can't say I'm disappointed with this, but I'm curious to know if this has happened to anyone else? I manually promoted McClellen so perhaps that is the cause of this event not firing. It also looks as though his training attribute isn't working either :(

I can't remember the last time I saw that event. And I always play Union. Mebbe you're playing a newer patch than you're used to?

Also curious about his training attribute... Can you elaborate?

The McClellan event only has a chance of firing. I don't know what the exact logic is, but I think if the Union can take Manassas before a certain date then McDowell will stay in command.

Maybe that's it then. I took Manassas before turn 10.

I always thought the McClellan event was inevitable, so thanks for clearing that up.

And so far he has not trained any units in his stack. Halleck has been training conscripts, but McClellan hasn't trained a single element.

And apologies to the general for misspelling his name.

Interesting.

McClleland trains just fine in my stacks

And you say Halleck is training, so I won't make the assumption that you are applying the mechanics incorrectly.

Do you have Sigel yet? If so have you tried training with him?

Sigel works. McClellan has trained in past games, just not this one. Maybe he's disappointed he didn't get his big chance?

I haven't had a problem with McClellan training conscripts on 1.15 or 1.16. I think he has always been the commander of his stack, though.

He has to be at the head of the stack containing the units to be trained, but he doesn't have to be army HQ. E.g. Sigel
