Cohesion based on Divisions grouped by States

In 1862 jefferson Davis encouraged Robert E Lee to group divisons by State due to the fact that soldiers had more cohesion if they felt like they were fighting for their state and amongst neighbors and if they deserted they would be shamed at home. What would the possibilty that Divisons being grouped by State could have a higher cohesion and a stronger will to fight. That would add authenticity to the game. What does everyone think? Is it even possible?

Regardless of said correspondence by Davis, I don't think there are any plans for this in the game.

The Brigades in AACW are a game consrtuct. The tactical unit of the time was the regiment. Brigades were created on an ad hoc basis. Yes, these brigades could exist as such for months and even years, but were neither administrative nor a self-sustaining organization. This obtains even more so for divisions.

A modern division is the "lowest echelon organization that can conduct operations by itself". N. B.: this is, in turn, being changed nowadays in the US Army. IOW, a Division has its own artillery, scouting, medical, supply, communications, etc. This did not obtain in the ACW. The US Army did not have divisions until 1917, the first one being the Big Red One, the 1st Infantry.

Army commanders in the ACW felt quite free to mix and match brigades and divisions. Our modern concept of the TOE didn't really exist back then.
