Quick question about Leader deaths

Are you informed somewhere that one of your leaders has died? I seem to have lost some leaders somehow...

In the battle report you will see a little cross by the leader icon on the upper row of the report if he became a casualty.
If the leader is the commanding officer (the one with the portrait on the report you will sea diagonal black ribbon over the portrait.
Besides if i recall correctly leaders deaths are also registered on the message log.
Have you search the missing leader on the unit roster? (shortcut key F1)

thanks, yes I checked the roster and he's nowhere to be found (Pemberton, a corps commander). He disappeared after a battle so I wondered if he was killed. I'm playing with a modded version so I'm guessing that's the problem.
