Command Point questions

Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:46 am

What's a Classic AAR and an OP.

I just started; my biggest problem at this point is when is a CP a good thing and when is a CP a bad thing.

Runyann99 said that:

A brigade=2 CP
4 brigades=8 CP
The CP Penalty is 30%
The Leader provides 2 CP
How many CP do I need?
Why am I short 6 CP?

How do I lower the 30% CP Penalty?
The Leader Provides 2 CP
How many CP do I need?
Why am I short 6 CP?

Hi Johnny Dennis, and welcome to the forums

Since your post had little to do with the AAR or the PBEM tournament, I moved it to its own thread here. :)

You can read up a bit on command points and how they work at http://www.ageod.net/aacwwiki/Manual:Army_organization#Leadership

A few things about CPs:
  • One star generals are unsuited to lead stacks with many units; you'll usually find yourself with large CP penalties in those cases
  • Organizing units into divisions do wonders for getting runaway CP problems under control. More about divisions at http://www.ageod.net/aacwwiki/Division
  • Having a small CP penalty (5% or 10%) is no crisis, e.g. when you have a stack consisting of a full division led by a one star general
  • The more stars a leader has, the more CP he provides to his stack, especially when the stack is part of an army/corps organization
