Press the "PrtSc"/"Print Screen" button. This copies the current screen to the clipboard. Then open the graphics program of your choice, e.g. Paint, Photoshop, Gimp or any other, and use "paste" to load your screen capture into it. Then save the picture as e.g. jpg or gif, and voilà :)

Another suggestion for you

Hi:
Thought I would throw out this little gem of a capture program for you to consider.
It's called FastStone Capture and as shareware, you can try it for awhile and see how you like it, and if you do, a lifetime license is $19.95.

Here is the link to the website:
Faststone Capture

I found this program and used it exclusively while doing my CSA AAR last year. I stored the files at Imageshack.

What I really like about FastStone Capture is the built-in editor function that lets you take any screen capture, draw and/or enter text, arrows, etc. and save it. This was indispensable for doing an AAR and demonstrating a point to the reader. If you are curious, the AAR link is here.

One of my real favorites as far as shareware goes. Hope this helps.

I've been using Quick Screen Capture (it's free). You hit F11, which allows you to mark off a specific area to capture.
