CW hardtack bread

I suppose that every CW history buff eventually reads about the awful "hardtack" that the soldiers had to eat. Here is a video of how the "indestructible bread" is made:

I've heard it wasn't so bad, if it wasn't infested with bugs. Someone had a piece of 150 year old
hardtack and even tried it. Said it tasted like mothballs.

Just made some with my daughter as a home school project. A few days and it was unbearably hard to eat

Try crumbling them with your musket butt and frying the crumbs in pork grease.
