Of course there're the most famous ones:

1. Patriot with Mel Gibson
2. Revolution directed by Hugh Hudson and starring Al Pacino
3. Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick (mostly drama but with some nice battle scenes)

and the prize:

4. The Crossing starring Jeff Daniels as Georgie Washington

The Crossing is the best of the bunch as it describes the wretched state of the Continental Army after the debacles at New York. It gives a good look for the viewer how Washy finally achieves a solid victory by crossing the Delaware river and surprising Rall's Hessians at Trenton. Suberb acting too!!!

I will add some to the 1-3 list (which I have seen)

4 - Drumms along the Mohawk (with H.Fonda -about the Tory & Indian war)
5 - The last of the Mohicans (with D.Day Lewis)
6 - Le Grand Passage (don't know the original title, it's about the Major R Rogers' raid on St Francis in 1759, starring Spencer Tracy - a movie from 1939 or 1940).

There was one also I have seen but does not recall the title, with Pierce Brosnan playing Sir William Johnson among his Mohawks during the F&I war...

There is an excellent documentary that came out earlier this year called "The War That Made America" about the French and Indian War. It is well worth checking out and has some excellent battle scenes

Oh my memory has failed me

I have seen those films that PhilTib listed, even have Last of the Mohicans in my collection. I believe there are lots of different versions of Mohicans films out there and there's another Mohawk film too which uses same footage as the Drums along -piece.

I have to check that Broken Chain.

the is a TV movie about Bendict Arnold (played by Aidan Quinn)

its an ok film (which means its better than "The Patriot" )

Dont forget April Mourning I believe Gregory peck is in this movie, its about the First Shots heard round the world, the opening of the American Revolution.

"The Crossing" was excellent, I thought.

"The Patriot" was interesting only for the authenticity of the time period it portrayed. The plot was predictable and the characters were cliche'.

If you watch "Last of the Mohicans", be sure to get the directors cut version. It includes deleted scenes from the siege of Ft. William Henry and you will see that Major Duncan Heywood was more than a stuffy popinjay.

I'll Second "Le Grand Passage"..US title "The Northwest Passage" 1940 with Tracy and Robert Young..Great old flick..gives an authentic feel I think to what it was like.. the logistics of supplies and men ..I was worn out just watching it..lol..not to mention gotta love the crazy ranger who reminded of me of Silence of the lambs..

The "Northwest Passage" movie is based on a great book by Kenneth Roberts, who also wrote several novels about the American Revolution.

Also, there was an Al Pacino movie in the 80's called "Revolution"
