I think only admins and moderators can delete a post.
Mark it for removal and they should take care for it.

I won't delete someone's post unless specifically asked to.
I read post #1 as a question, not a request to delete!

You should be able to delete your own posts, unless it's the first post of the thread, IIRC
[color="Blue"]Since it has little do with WIA; movified

Screnn REfresh

Mr Rafiki, how do I keep the screen from refreshing when I am seeing who is on line? I can never reach the other pages, because after the refresh the stupid thingy has me back on the first page.

At the bottom of the "who's online screen" you'll find the text "per page" and a text box with "30" filled in. Change that number to 200 and hit the display button. Then the display has only one page.
And you might select "Members" in the drop down menu left to the text box. This makes the list shorter.
You are so SWEET!

To his excellency, the German Ambassador:
Thank you, sir!
Here's a big smooch for you, right on top of that manly bald head:

With much affection,
Me
Maybe you are not so sweet, after all...

To his excellency, the German Ambassador:
Suddenly, my mind is clouded with doubt about your sweetness.
I have done as you suggest, and still the screen blinks every few seconds and returns me to the top. But the list is much shorter, and all of the icky spiders are gone.
Even so, I think that I want my smooch back.
(shy smile)
With affection who's measure is contingent upon your response,
Me

AFAIK, you can't (not in any easy way, at least).
Whenever I've checked the page, the only entries beyond the first page have been guests and search engine spiders, so don't expect to find anything interesting there anyway

Dearest Lady Mae,
many thanks for your reply.

Of course you cannot stop this site from refreshing, as you cannot change forum options that would apply for all visitors. Nevertheless I am still pretty sure that the advices I gave you are the best you can make out of this situation. Still I will try to persuade the forum administrator Rafiki to change the forum according to your wishes. Please let me know which forum color would match the color of your nails best.

As you wish, dearest Lady, just let me know where you want me to place it.
All my best wishes,

If possible, it might be a good move to reduce the number of refreshes of that site anyway, because that would reduce server load, me thinks. Moreover, why does this site needs to be updated twice a minute at all?

It's just the detailed "what are people doing" listing that gets refreshed (AFAIK), and that is hardly the most visited part of the forum anyway. No idea why it's set up like that to begin with, though.

With all due respect and with the greatest civility, I'm going to have to ask you to step outside so that we might discuss this...
response of yours, sir.
I have spoken with my wife on this manner, who has been stricken with dazed confusion since this affront, sir! She has simply sat, and stared blankly at the wall with a wide smile on her face. I know it is an act; I know that within, she is weeping at your audacity.
She asks that I deliver this message to you sir, whatever it means:
"Es tut mir lied, meine herr; ohne zweiful meine Dixicrat ist eine asch mit horen" are the words that she bids that I speak to you, sir! Or something to that effect. I can only assume that this is some statement of her devotion to me. Let us not tarry here; to the alley, sir.

Dear honorable Sir,
please understand that I was only offering what I was asked for by the charming Lady Mae, as she stated:
A southern belle wrote:Even so, I think that I want my smooch back.
Exactly the same smooch she placed on my bal...ehhh...aerodynamically optimized forehead and the Lady wanted it restituted. Of course you know that men like you and me would never be able reply to lip caress with lip service. Therefore my question.
Dixicrat wrote:[...]I have spoken with my wife on this manner, who has been stricken with dazed confusion since this affront, sir! She has simply sat, and stared blankly at the wall with a wide smile on her face. I know it is an act; I know that within, she is weeping at your audacity.[...]
Of course Lady Mae is looking at the wall and of course she smiles. Sir, as you have read her messages in this thread carefully, you know of course the reason for this: the wall is not refreshing every 30 seconds like the devilish "who is online" display does. After having her eyes hurt by the diabolic device, it must be so recreative to watch the walls solid as rock.
Dixicrat wrote:[...]She asks that I deliver this message to you sir, whatever it means:

Sir, your dearest Lady speaks of you in highest praises, you should be so proud of her.
Yours truthfully,
dooya

Cranberry Crush or Roseblossom Pink would be lovely! ...and if you could maybe add some little flowers on the side, I would be
forever obliged to you, kind sir.
Trying to hide my affection for certain German people,
Mae

PS: Please take your time. I am in no rush, and I can
certainly wait until this evening, if your ambassadorial duties prevent you from acting sooner.

My dearest Lady Mae,
of course I will try my best. Just, lay back and look unsuspiciously.
Greetings to you and, of course, to Dixicrat,
Regards,
dooya
And now to something completely different.
*cough*
Ehem,
Rafiki, it just came to my mind that the forum walls need a refreshing, and, oooooh surprise, I have those two cans of color here, "Cranberry Bush" and "Joe'sbottom shrinks". Wouldn't it be a nice idea to do some home improvement.

How to delete subscribed threads in User CP?
Posted: Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:23 pm
by Aphrodite Mae
Havely here. (Mae's out shopping for more cute shoes.)
How do I delete threads from the "subscribed threads" list in my user CP? I've seen the "delete" option for new threads, but not for older threads. Also: is there any way that I can set the duration that a thread remains "new"?
Thanks,
Havely
PS I'm delighted by the new forum options! I didn't think that the old forum could be any better than it was. I was wrong! Is there some sort of "users manual" for the forum, anywhere? ...and if there isn't, I wonder if someone could do a sort of a "sub-wiki" on forum stuff, in the AACW wiki...?

Aphrodite Mae wrote:How do I delete threads from the "subscribed threads" list in my user CP? I've seen the "delete" option for new threads, but not for older threads.
To the right of each thread in your subscription overview, there should be a checkbox. At the bottom there should be a dropdown menu, with an option to "delete subscription", which should delete your subscription for all "checked" threads in your overview.
Aphrodite Mae wrote:Also: is there any way that I can set the duration that a thread remains "new"?
AFAIK, a thread will remain "new" until you have either done "Mark Forums Read" (selected from the "Quick Links"-menu) or till you have been idle for some time (15 minutes?) There is now way for you to set the timeout period for yourself; it's a forum setting.

I'm sure there must be a "user manual" somewhere, but I haven't found it yet (haven't looked that much either, admittedly

)
There is a forum FAQ here:
http://www.ageod-forum.com/faq.php; if you (including everyone else) have suggestions for how to improve it, I'd very much like to hear them
