Just played the demo a few weeks ago in this Dominions 3 game.
I remember only Master of Magic or Age of Wonders as "Good Grand" Strategy - Fantasy games.
They were pretty --- Just they were not challenging... I bored of them unfortunately after testing a bit.
Dominions seems a lot better in the strategy part (in general seems to me a good game, perhaps the first company who has done a good one),... but perhaps lacks some of the "beautifulness" required for a fantasy game.
Im still needed to convince some of my friends to play this D3 game...

Well, Master of Magic was rather ugly and the AI was crappy. That said it is one of the best game I ever played (with an heroic fantasy setting). Dominions reminded me much of it.

I played the Dominions 3 demo a lot. I had really fun, but could not afford to buy that game.

Never tried Dominions (maybe when i´m retired or win the lottery or both) but i liked the last Age of Wonders game (Shadow Magic). If only it had a decent AI (or a good programmer like Pocus who worked on improving it) it would be very good!
By the way, is rumoured that Stardock plans to do a Master of Magic kind of game. Not the same name (copyright issues) but the same spirit.

I rather hope for a
Master of Magic like game.

Sorry, yes that's what i wanted to say... too many "M" on the titles can be confusing

AoW are too easy to game and (as MoM) offer no challenge at all. At least AoW is pretty to look.
Just build outposts as crazy, study all skills then spells, then bore to build without end.
The games ended into a nonfantasy WG just a build build and build...

Unofficially, the Stardock game is called Not-MoM

It is not clear if the Stardock team is saying this won't be MoM, but in the end it will be close in spirit, or if they are creating their own concepts from A to Z. Personally I would prefer MoM, with the GC2 3D engine and a decent AI. That would suffice to my joy, but I confess I don't think it will be that. I keep my reasons private or only to betas

This Non-MoM Stardock stuff seems vaporware, they talk about it since a couple years ... and if they end up with a multiplayer RTS I will pass ..again

I don't think so, they have a TBS with Gal Civ. That would be very evil from them to convert to RTS. As evil as Triumph Studio move from AOW 2 to Overlord action-RPG.

IIRC they stated explicitly that it is turn based. They will add more manpower to this project as soon as their game
The Political Machine is released.
