The AGEod story...

Hi,
I have come across several posts asking why NCP did not offer a Grand campaign, why ACW was more complex than BoA, why BoA did not offer a proper recruitment system.
It occured to me that what appears as natural to us, because we know the AGE engine and its evolutions, the AGEod development plans, etc. obviously looked more obscure to a part of our community.
So I thought I could post here a work done by Markshot, our US team member (with few changes by me). This is a draft version but it can give you a better understanding of how the AGE engine is designed:
AGE v1: AGEOD's Generals at War (Great Battles series) --- AGEOD GBS
This serie focuses on the wars which shaped our world. This is your chance to take charge of a key battle upon which the future of the world pivoted. Can you handle the pressure of command? All the military resources you need have already been provided. You are exactly in the same position than your historical alter-ego, with the same amount of information and operationnal control. March, countermarch, supply your troops and cut the ennemy lines. You have but one duty and that is too fight and win! What are your orders?
ie: Birth of America, Napoleon's Campaigns, Birth of America 2
AGE v2: AGEOD's Commander in Chiefs (Nations at War series) --- AGEOD NWS
This serie focuses on leadership during times of war. You will need to guide your nation to victory, but military expertise alone will not be enough. You will need to decide on national policies in order to keep the engine and machinery of war maintained and running smoothly and sustain the morale of your nation. Neglect the front, and you'll be invaded. Neglect the rear, and you will be forced to meet the enemy with poor moral and ammo. Can you balance wartime leadership with the forward thinking needed to see the fight through to the bitter end?

AGE v3: AGEOD's World Leaders (global politics series) --- AGEOD GPS
This series will be much broader than a simple wargame. To build and nurture a nation one must be much more than simply a General. You will have to set the national and international agenda. Will you focus on research and bring about a renaissance, or will you focus on industrialization and build an economic powerhouse that leads the world's markets in production of goods?
Will you prepare your people to defend their freedom from hideous power hungry despots, or will you prepare your people to seek their righteous place in a new world order shaped by the power of your factories and the force of your arms? Because War is only the continuation of war by other ways, be prepared to face the greatest generals, diplomats and political leaders.

Next time, I will try to tell you the AGEod inside story. From the meeting between Philippe Malacher and Philippe Thibaut till now, you'll understand the team's dreams, hopes, constraints and fears. How and why we develop version 1, 2 or 3 games.
