Is this forum dead ?

Thu Aug 16, 2018 4:01 pm

... Seems so ... not 100% but 98% ?
I can't understand why the company, ie. AGEOD is not maintaining active discussions here, for instance by simply answering all questions. This is a clear commercial mistake IMO. "Motion creates emotion".
Otherwise you're dead.
The most successful games in pc gaming history are the ones that had an active community.

Yep, they don't seem to be interested, I reported a bug in WOS around 2 months ago, there has been no Ageod reply, its a shame because they used to really involved in discussions....

I mean if you look at Philthibs page he hasn't been on the forums since early July...

Sadly the forums are, indeed, really quiet. Here's hoping the new title and engine will breath new life around here! When AGEOD finally gives some information...

It's very unfortunate, yeah. I'd like to be more active, but I check the forums every day and there's rarely anything new to respond to. Seems we've dropped below that critical mass where someone always has something to say.

Hey,

Forum is not dead, but a combination of vacation period and lull before the new engine/game makes it dormant.

We are almost ready to make an announcement about the new game!

That is excellent news! Is the new game to be published in 2018?

What happened with Christmas releases?

Not ready yet or other developers come first in Matrix/Slitherine?

Christmas releases... With Steam, it means that either you are in the top sells, or you killed your game release.

It's somehow like the Apple shop (although I don't own an Apple product), the first 20 or so products do great, the others struggle to recoup expenses.

PhilThib had switched to others activities. I know he is not ready to announce anything yet, and anyway that's up to him. He can still pass here to chat with you, but I know he was busy this summer.

By saying "PhilThib had switched to others activities" you mean PhilThib left the company, or left the forum ?

Well, the good news is, the company Ageod still exists, Pocus and the 2 McNeils of Slitherine/Matrix are listed as officers. And they've got a new game engine and a new game in the pipline.

But I'm sad PhilThib doesn't seem to be on board any longer. I hope he can make a living and has fun with his new projects. Wild guess: He'll do board games?!

Agree... As soon as a spirit of this company keep by these key persons - nothing`s over.
Let`s wish a good luck to PhilThib! :hat: :hat: :hat:
He`s back to his beginning - board games. Who knows what if he`ll return later with another great PC game concept :)

Well, I am not as optimistic as you 2.

Ageod was founded by PhilThib and Pocus.

Ageod cannot be with any of them out...

I find it a bit scary to be honest... I still hope we will get some nice new games in the future but who knows. Phil Thib and the "board game" feel are sort of the essence of what made AGEOD different, in an era of either hardcore simulation à la WITP or arcadish games with historical feel à la HOI and co, AGEOD provided us with games that felt table topish with turns and counters and all, and fantastic chrome. AACW will probably remain in the top 5 of my favourite games all time in that regard. What came after was never quite the same to be honest. Good luck to the studio, and to Phil Thib, and let's see what happens.

It's clear that AGEOD games are unique in the sense that both the historical immersion and the board game feels are incredible.
Now we have to wait for the new engine and hope for the best.
Hope it remains turnbased-wego.

Pocus is the heart and sole of the development team. There are other full-time devs working on the project but it is Pocus' vision that drives everything. Philippe Thibaut was very much on the management side and supporting other devs to make games in the old engine. He contributed considerably in shaping up Ageod’s current line-up, but the market doesn't really support this kind of approach anymore. We, therefore, had to make the decision of focusing on less but bigger games. Hence the huge investment in the current game Pocus is leading on. This will be the biggest budget game Ageod has ever created.

With the transition to less but bigger games and the management structure at Slitherine, Philippe found he didn't really have a significant role left to play and wanted to try something new and has left to pursue those interests.

We wish him luck with his future endeavors.

We hope to be able to tell you more about the upcoming game very soon!

A huge loss :(

He has come back to the boardgame world apparently.

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesi ... pe-thibaut

And will release two Great Invasions based games.

I wish you good luck Mr Thibaut :hat:

And also to Pocus with the new game, now that he is alone.
