Hi,
many thanks for your reply. I last played an Ageod game mid February with no probs and when firing up Rise of Prussia for a new campaign the issue started. I am fairly sure its an issue on my end as you mentioned.
Support at Matrix was incredibly responsive and those are the steps I tried without any success:
- disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game via 'msconfig'
- try installing the games in a different Steam library than C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\..... (eg in D: drive)
They also funnily enough suggested I try this solution I posted myself on Steam a while ago and sorted the issue I had starting Wars of Napoleon (which sort of made me very proud of my PC tech skills
)

The issue in my opinion lies with the kernelbase.dll which was last modified on 13th March (same day as the latest windows update). However, since no one else seems to have this problem, it must have something to do with my PC.
