Dropbox's Datastore API

Wed Jul 10, 2013 7:11 pm

"Dropbox's Datastore API, for instance, lets developers store and sync any type of application data to Dropbox (i.e., those game saves and to-do lists and whatnot)."

Now, wouldn't it be cool if future titles (starting from AACW2) could have automatic syncing of save games through these APIs? It would probably be one of the first games of this genre to do so and be much of help given the save-ping-pong of turn based games in PBEM! :w00t:

What is missing in games is an option asking for us to choose a saves location.
Aim your common 30 Gb usb-key, this is small and light in our pockets, you don't depend on third party feature such as clouds.

True. And actually what I have posted before as "novelty" was already achievable. If the game allows you to set your own save folder for the game files, then automatically you are set: nobody prohibits you from setting a Dropbox folder directly*. ;)

*there are still some issues though, you should only share the .trn/.ord files in a game with password, not the .hst
