NewPost section from AGEod site links bar does not report "as new" any change/update to existing posts.

Guess it should be, indeed!
AGEod is often used to update relevent posts, as those hosting DB files, unfortunately such relevant event is not evidenced at NewPost section.

That the "New Posts"-search doesn't include those is the way the forum software works, and we have no plans to start hacking at that

The usual way to do this is by making a new post saying what you want to say. If it's an update to release notes or install instructions or file downloads, it's quite allright to update the post containing them, then make a new post indicating the update.
