Print Screen

Hi chaps, can anyone suggest a simple way I can make a screenshot in the AGEOD games. I go into the game and hit the PrtScn button and then paste into Paint but I get nothing (apart from some previous screen taken of something else).

I used to have a free screen print program that worked but it doesn't seem to now. I'm using XP. If I manage to get it to work I think I should post it as a JPEG? Any free software I can download to do this?

I have had problems with this in the past and I think there is a thread about it somewhere but I'm in a rush to go out and couldn't find it.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

The PrtScn button works fine for me in all AGEOD games. :)
A nice and for non-commercial use free tool is Hardcopy. http://www.hardcopy.de/hardcopy/english/index.php

PrtScn and then paste in your graphics software should work.

I used this one for the portraits and for taking some screenshots too, you need windows.net to be installed

I use irfanview
http://www.irfanview.com/

Its free too, very lite and fast.
Just an image viewer and format converter.
Not a full featured graphics editor as the one Nikel posted.
The method i use for screens is doing a Print Screen on game, minimize to desktop open Irfanviev and do a Ctrl+V over it's black screen.
Then you can "save as" the image selecting jpg format and setting the quality so the resulting image is not too big.

Its easier don than said ;)

BUT... PrtScreen and Paint should do the job pretty easily ??

Maybe Hobbes got a new keyboard like the one I recently bought from Microsoft (please, don't ask...:confused :) that has a PrtScn key that doubles as Insert depending if an "F lock" key is pushed previously or not ? (:bonk :)

:non: thanks for your answers chaps but I'm still getting nowhere. I do have a Microsoft keyboard - maybe there is a problem with that? It's not a new one though. I tried hardcopy but all that seems to do is make my printer do funny things.

I have irfanview, paint etc but I have nothing to paste into them. PrtScn captures nothing.

I just tried Faststone from this thread and I can capture and paste any screen until I get into the game - then no joy. This is really bugging me now.

But as Franciscus said, your keyboard has the F lock or not?

According to the wikipedia it is there on some microsoft keyboards since 2003, so not only the new ones

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Lock

As he said perhaps you have pressed F lock and that button has now another function, so try pressing F lock again and perhaps PrtScn will do what it is supposed to do?

I should have taken more notice! :(

YES!!!! It was the F-Lock key that has caused all of my problems over the last 3 years! Damn, the AAR's I could have written had I known that!

I can't tell you how many years of frustration I have had with this - and all down to the bloody F-Lock key!

Bloody hell.

:hat: Glad to be able to help you, Hobbes.

These Microsoft keyboards, although generally good, have indeed some...peculiarities :bonk:
