Ungoogleable coin?

Sat Apr 13, 2013 8:48 pm

Hi folks, I was thinking of buying this Kushano-Sassanid coin as it is of a period I am interested in.
Apparently it is of Morhizd I (270-275). If I google Morhizd I find nothing but the coin offered for sale.

Can anyone find anything about this leader? (could make for a good quiz question!).

I couldn't find anything at all about a Morhizd I. Thing is, Shapur I and his sons ruled as Sassanid kings during that time period, so the coin itself must be misnamed, or it might be an imitation coin with a rather non-historical king named after it to keep it from being compared to legitimate period coins.

Even vcoins.com, which has a large collection of ancient coins doesn't have anything with a Morhizd I. In fact, aside from the coin site where the coin itself is listed, there doesn't seem to be any biographies or mentions of Morhizd I... not any linked on the web anyway. Maybe someone else has some info? Sounds shady to me.

I would say it is Hormizd I (270-295). Ask the seller.
