Gentlemen, it has come to my attention that there are those who have seen through my elaborate ruse of an elaborate but manly attempt to heretofore present my manly self through the obfuscication of a previously heretofore unconsidered feminine type of person that henceforth shall be known as the girl I portrayed, but wasnt really. But thats the way we men feel, isnt that right, guys?

And so, this missive is on behalf of myself, previously known to one and all as Aphrodite Mae but only thought by you to be a person that I really wasn't, when you consider the metaphysical properties. So, man to man, I want to make a manly apology for pretending to be my wife. Since this expose's pontifical nature may perhaps bewilder some I shall only say that I will understand if you should desire to ignore everything that I have posted as Dixiecrat.

I hereby acknowledge that everything I have posted as Dixiecrat is wrong.
Furthermore and henceforthwith, I manfully apologize for having obfusciated such an egregious deception upon my fellow manly men.

Instead, I sent a password reminder to the mail address that has been registered to the Dixicrat account, as is possible to do yourself when you are unable to log in due to a forgotten password. If this was unnecssary, I apologize, but I consider it a minor nuisance if done unnecessarily, while it is of help if not.

Truth be told, I have little clue about whether or not you are two people or one person alternating between two accounts. Whichever it is, I am not particularly amused.

• If this is two people, then Aphrodite Mae has attempted to use me to gain access to someone else's account. I realize that it is as likely as not that it then was meant in light-hearted fun. Count this as a warning to all that the next time I have a suspicion of something like that taking place, I will not take it lightly, and any culprits are potentially looking at a forced vacation from these forums.
• If this is indeed one person alternating between two accounts, then I count it as a fairly succesful attempt at misleading everyone else here, something I really don't want to see happen here. Though we exist as virtual unknowns to eachother, there is a certain trust built in here, e.g. that when two people are discussing, it is, in fact, two people discussing.

Logically, one of these must be true. Since I am unsure which it is, I'll let things rest after having said what I have said above.

I think everyone can agree that these are fairly friendly forums, where people generally get along pretty well I'd really hate to see that change, and I'd hate to have to spend time establishing routines for handling situations we haven't had to handle so far [/color]

I've got to say that I was shocked by Rafiki's reaction to my post. It seemed to be... a bit heavy handed, shall we say.

I mean really, Rafiki: as many times as both Mae and Dixicrat have logged on to this forum, did you really think that Dixicrat had forgotten his password? Did you really think that all of that gibberish of mangled English was real? And did you actually believe that a man would use the word "manly" to describe his own actions, a half dozen times or more? Finally, I would ask, have you ever seen any post by Mae that could even halfway be taken as a serious statement?

I'm going to delete two posts: the one that caused you to nuke me, and this one. I'll remove this one tomorrow by noon, EST. I'm going to erase the other as soon as I'm done here. First of all, my apologies for "preparing for the worst" in that I theorized if you could be the same person using two accounts. Though we have no experience with it here, I've seen that happen at other forums, and it never led to anything good.

Personally, I think that both of you have in short time shown yourselves as welcome additions to our community, and I would hate it if my actions as forum admin have put that in jeopardy. If indeed that is the case, then I have gone a long way in failing to do my job here

I agree that it was. Unfortunately, it is part of my role here to be a bit paranoid (luckily, it is a very small part, due to the general conduct of posters here ), and as the saying goes, "it is better to be safe than sorry"; as we now see, it is possible to be both safe and a little sorry at the same time.

I almost never enter my password when I log on to the forums. Between the forum's ability to remember you when you have logged on from a given machine to various browsers' ability to remember passwords for you, I usually only need to enter my password whenever I log on anew after changing my password.

Also, you'd be surprised by the number of times I've helped people here in getting their forum accounts activated and help people with resetting their passwords, often by request sent via other posters here. Usually, such requests aren't made in public posts, but that's far from the only way of bringing such problems to my attention

I'm afraid I do not wish to do that. I stand for what I said, and it goes some way in establishing policy in two areas, even if those policies are not applicable in this case. My post was meant at least as much to the "general public" as it was specifically to you. That said, I offer my apologies for bringing out a baseball bat when a tap on the shoulder could've gone a long way in accomplishing the same.

What I can do, is to move the posts dealing with this to a thread of its own, letting this thread return to its own?
