There is a Royalist Commission that can be played for Oxford on Turn 1 but it seems to have 0% chance of happening (I replayed it 15 times). A simple tweak could make this high probability or a certainty. Royalist loyalty is 24%, Parliamentarian 26%, Neutral 51%. One wonders how accurate this is. While many of the citizens more favoured the roundheads the university stayed staunchly Royalist even supplying war funds during the war (and was punished by Cromwell afterwards). in any case another thing the Devs could do is allow a Royalist Gain Support card to be played in Oxford on Turn 1. I'm no expert on this area of history, but Oxford is a complicated situation early on that could be modeled better.

Hi Paulferris,

thanks for your support. I have my doubts if Slitherine considers possible add new patches on games of the first Ageod engine.
In any case, what issues have you found that need to be fixed?

Well,m Reading is in the wrong place on the map and it should be Newbury anyway

Secondly, the royal Castles aren't mentioned, especially Corfe which is by far th emost famous of them- the sieges there went on for nearly two years!

Finally, and most severely, the War Supply doesn't work properly, especially when it comes to 'winning' it in battles - the narrative often tells you that you've won and gained (say) 2 WS pts, but they are never added to your score - this is a serious bug IMO as WS is very difficult to come by anyway at the best of times.

Unfortunatly, that issue regarding the captured supplies cannot be solved by me (Headquarter), because it needs to change the code of the game. I suggest you to report it on the slitherine support mail.
Check here how to proceed.

Thanks, sent them another Email this evening. However I am not very optimistic as they promised this would be dealt with 'in the next patch' ages ago... when was the last patch? 2017? They have known about this fault since then. :bonk:

Also see my post earlier. It seems very odd to me that after so much time there are still missing strings in this game. It doesn't imbue confidence in a game when problems that should be so easy to fix go unnoticed. But the game looks good. I look forward to playing it.

Cheers,
Chris

It is, Mr Hobbes. But until they sort out the annoying WS problem it is basically unplayable as the Royalist as this faction can not capture WS from battles and is severely limited elsewhere how it might get said supply.

It seems that Pocus could try to fix the issue now that he has more time after the release of the new engine game. So cross fingers here to see that issue fixed. :)

It seems a shame if the game is pretty close to perfect but there is one outstanding issue like this. I assume it affects the Parliamentarians as well? + If playing the Parliamentarian faction the game will be too easy if the WS problem affects the Royalists to a larger degree? I feel like holding off playing the game now in the hope of a fix.

Cheers,
Chris

To fix the issue with captured war supplies not being added to War supply total amount ;

Go to ECW/settings
Open Gamelogic.opt
Look for
aseWSUorSteelinDB = 0
Change it to
aseWSUorSteelinDB = 1
Save and close.

Captured war supplies will be added properly for following battles.

Can't change or save the file :-( I can access it even though I am administrator as read-only with Word Pad. I think the problem is that the file is an .opt one and Word Pad is manily a text-based s/w programme.
What could I use to open it so that I can change it and save it succesffully? Any ideas, anyone?

Huh? How? Sorry you've lost me. Says ;choose the programme you want ot use to open this file' and the oly option it give s me is Word Pad, w hich I can only open as read-only and can not save it, at least as an OPT file.
BTW been looking up OPT files, it says Microsoft Office can open these files and I've been trying with that, but again it only gives- me an readoonly option, I can not change the thing as an opt file. It keep son trying to change I t to a word or text document...

If you change the attributes as I posted, you may open the file with wordpad, edit and save it.

Uncheck read only.

Just to clarify my problem - I can open the file but only as a text file, so I can only save it as a 'text' file. Not as an OPT file. It's not a problem of permissions, but one of software.

Yes but I can not save it as a OPT file, only as a TEXT one which is what I don't want. :bonk: :bonk:
