Hi to everybody.

I have returned to AGEOD games after a 7 year hiatus (jumped from Rise of Prussia to Thirty Years War) and I think my last post is from 2010.

The question: Are promotions enabled at all in ECW since I have not been able to promote those leaders that have additional models in database (like Hopton, Cromwell, Thomas Fairfax, Lord Byron etc)?

Same thing with TYW... I've tried to a get promotion for Turenne but no dice.

Interesting observation. I have not noticed any promotions, but then again . . .. I will monitor these games and report back if someone else does not have a solid answer sooner.

I should say there is a bug, also in TYW. Reported for the second game and never fixed.


Just tried Marston Moor scenario.

Rupert won a victory, was congratulated and changed seniority from 5 to 1.

He is promotable according to the mdl files.

The conditions are fulfilled according to the manual.

Promotion button is greyed.

Yeah, I kind of figured this is a bug... a major one though.

Anyways... thanks guys.

I have checked this and in the database looks ok so its probably linked with the code.
I will try to find a fix for this but I need Pocus help. Im already in contact with him

Could somebody open the file 81PARCromwell.mdl in ECW\gamedata\models and very that the folloing is present ;

TechUpg = ldr_PAR_Cromwell2

I can verify that 83PARCromwell has TechUpg = ldr_PAR_Cromwell2

(81 seems to be Russell)

There is a $ missing, it should be ;

TechUpg = $ldr_PAR_Cromwell2


That why promotion is not working.

That should be true for all promotable leaders.

As I do not have the DB, I cannot make a global fix.
You will have to go leader by leader to do the modification.
.cached will have to be deleted before running the game.

Note ; Same issue, same fix for TYW.

If anyone would like to try this

In the ECW\gamedata\models replace the 9 MDL leader files with the 9 from the first set in the zip. (a second folder has the originals if you need to revert because I did something stupid! ) Delete the Models.Cached file. The game will make a new one when it starts again.
