Regarding the mentioned Mantuan event, that appears a bit bugged;

Have anyone noticed any improvent by using the official 1.01 patch?

I'm considering buying the game, and just want to know if this event issue still persist in v1.01?

The event is mostly working well. In the rare instances where it still sneaks into the game, the solution is very simply. Back up, split up your stacks and resume play.
By all means this game buy the game, the ear is so well covered you will learn so much about the 30 years war even if you know quite a bit.

Thanks, again, Durk. Based on your advice I have finally decided to go for a purchase. I don't know that much about this particular period in history, but I have a pretty massive book sitting on my shelf covering the Thirty Years War, yet to be read. Guess it's about time to pick it up.

There are many great books. My current favorite is The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815 (Penguin History of Europe #6) by Timothy C.W. Blanning

I have "The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815" myself. Still not read it though. I've been reading mostly about ancient history up to now, apart from WW2 and cold war era books. Too many books to read, too little time.

My Thirty Years War book is titled "The Thirty Years War: Europe's Tragedy" by Peter H. Wilson.

Yes, really old. I love the gutenburg site for classic books. This is the same version I read and recommend.

So no one reads C.V. Wedgwood's The Thirty Years War anymore? It's Copyrighted 1938 I know. It was the main text we used when I was in college (last century). Still a classic from defenestration to the Peace of Westphalia.
