Just coming up on finishing Peter Wilson's, The Thirty Years War: Europe's Tragedy.

The book is superb; his work is easily the best in English since Wedgewood’s The Thirty Years War.
The prose is clean and understandable. The author exhibits deep knowledge of the material and very refreshingly avoid English bias. Looking at the events though Hapsburg’s eyes was new ground for me.

I strongly advise anyone interested in this time period to invest the time and effort it will take to read this book. A warning, it is massively long.
