AI Portuguese recruitment

Hi All,

Having taken over Portugal in a 58 turn long PBEM, I've noticed the AI did some bad choices in recruiting during the last turns.
Despite being invaded by Spanish armies, Portoguese are mostly building garrisons units, costal artillery, light warships and merchant ships.

That's what they're building right now.

To this you should add a lot more of garrisons and costal artillery already built.

I believe AI should focus on more useful troops especially when invaders are already on their soil. I can provide save game if necessary

That seems to happen a lot to minor powers. I've seen Bavaria repeatedly raising garrison units and then try to integrate them with the mobile army. Same happened with Berg, Naples and Switzerland. Must have something to do with the fact that they are cheap units and the AI will produce what it can immediately produce. Its a problem that happened in PoN as well

Athena does looks indeed for defense, and is carefully checking her budget... Also a matter of Force Pool units, she can't buy garrisons units aplenty if the stock is out.

Minors should build units via events, not AI decision : based on the economy size of a minor country it should be given such and such force composition, at the right cis the of course, it makes their economy go in the minus? Who cares, it will creep back up to 0 in time. That way the force composition will be coherent.
