Dear Tech Support,

So I've just purchased this game direct off the ageod website and unfortunately it keeps crashing at the AGEOD loading screen. Can't play the game at all....

Message I get is - 'NGC.exe has stopped working'.

This is followed by the loading screen and a pop up box in French:

'Exception EAccessViolation dans le module NGC.exe dans 000C7E2C. Violation d'acces a l'adresse 004C7E2C dans le module NGC.exe. LEcture de l'adresse 00000004'.

I also purchased the game Alea Jacta Est on Steam at the weekend and exactly the same problem happens!

I've read the forums and have disabled my AntiVirus, run the game in administrator and turn off UAC. Re-install etc. Nothing helps.

My other games such as Scourge of War - Gettysbury (purcahsed from Matrix) or Europa Universalis IV (on steam) all work fine. I've never had this problem before. (Computer specs more than comfortable to play this game).

Please help - as I am completely lost now as to what to do.

Look at the files in this folder

C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\My Games\Pride of Nations\VGN\Logs

or the same folder in any other Ageod game

Find the lines causing the Errors

When you did a fresh install did you install using administrative privileges? I am pretty sure this is your issue, but just to check one other potential issue, did you get to the place in the install where you add your key?

The last entry on the log is "initializing audio engine" then it crashes. My new computer did not come with an audio device, its shipped separately and is not here yet.

- Since the last reported activity in the log related to audio, I deduced that this issue possibly related to the fact that I have audio disabled by default on my PC. I don't have speakers connected to my PC (not everyone in the house wants to hear "Bonnie Blue Flag"), and only plug in headphones when gaming. Windows 7 automatically enables and disables audio for me depending on whether or not I have them plugged in. In this case, I plugged in my headphones, enabled audio, & voila, the game started up just fine. That being said, I don't see why the game should crash (and leave me scratching my head) at start up if I have audio disabled - it should either prompt me to enable audio if required, or allow me to crush the rebellion in silence!
No worries on my side, just wanted to let you know what the issue was in case another user encountered it. Keep up the good work!
