Diplomatically I am trying to bring in Portugal - for an invasion of Spain - and Prussia to link up with my Austrian ally after taking back Hannover. I am also playing all the smuggling cards, the developement cards and the Suspended Habeas Corpus cards mostly in Ireland. Then I am drafting and seizing horses ;-D
In the homeland I am sending units to three harbours to pick them up - on the first look they all seem to be locked, but mostly it is just one small unit in the stack that is locked. I reorganized the divisions of the English home army. I have quite some power in my stacks, but severely lack supply carts and siege artillery. I build siege artillery this turn and hope tp build supply carts the next turns. I am also pulling together a big transport fleet.
I have split from the big fleet stacks, some smaller stacks, to hunt the French trading ships in all trading zones - lets see how that works out ;-D And of course I have closed the last gap of a Spanish port that was not blockaded. About the fleets - they are all in a defensive positioning - so I put them on an offensive one - would they engage enemy fleest in a defensive postioning, if they try to leave the port?

The invasion plan:

I want to invade Spain through Gibraltar and also Portugal and I want to take back Hannover and the link my forces through Prussian territory with the Austrians against Napoleon. I also send Nelson to Jamaica, to pick up the force their and send in to Saint Dominique to support against the Haitians and Spanish there. If I can afford it and the invasions in Europe go well, I want to send additional forces to North and South America and other colonies to take the Spanish and French holdings ;-D
I still need supply carts to get started, as otherwise my Britsih troops will run out of tea and that would have a devastating effect on their morale and cohesion ;-D

If you plan on an early invasion of Spain, good luck. Although I assume the British army has high morale and training, their numbers will be much, much smaller than France's. Historically, Spain had guerilla's (sp?, I haven't gone to sleep yet!) fighting the French when they invaded which really bogged down the French. Hopefully, the French will be fully engaged against the Austrians, Russians and Prussians to be able to mount a strong defense of Spain (which I also assume that France and Spain would ally).

Historically, the British were pretty good at picking around the edges of European civilization (and preferably at great sea distance to maximize their strengths) against the French before their small army would lock horns with the French, so this gamble (if I am reading you correctly) will be very interesting.

I know - yes I am planning these invasions - one to support my Austrian allies - one to divert the French and several in the colonies to destroy the French and Spanish there and to free up my troops ;-D I can always retreat with my fleet back to England, if things go south ;-D

Also be interesting to see how well Austria does, it may be able to fight the French into a sort of stalemate which creates all sorts of interesting options for the British?

The Battles:

One lucky catch for Nelson and a not so bad defeat for our Haiti force - they should be able to hold on until the reinforcements from Jamaica arrive - they have lots of supplies left and are gaining CB wise the upper hand.

Strategic discussions:
GB has lots of money and war supplies, but a severe lack of recruits - so I used all MP this turn to buy replacements - supply carts need to wait - but I anyways want to put Moore in control of the English Home Army first, as York is a terrible leader. So I need to wait another 5 turns - hopefully I can build the supply carts until then. The seize horses card was not worth it - we gain 28 horses each turn - the seize horses only brought in 50 horses for a loyalty loss of 20% in Bristol. So I will not play that card again...It will be very hard for GB to build additional units, as the low MP will be eaten up by needed replacements - except in turns when I play the draft card...
We plan to hunt down more French and Spanish fleets - lets see how it will work out ;-D I also bring back the Indian fleet to Europe for that purpose. I played some more develop terrtory on disloyal Irish cities and Bristol to regain the loyalty...
We (Orso and me) decided to take over more countries - Orso will take over Russia and me Prussia and Portugal as soon as they join the coalition...so we can use the little we have, to stop Napoleons onslaught more efficiently.

I love to reorganize divisions - as they are mostly not optimized at start - the Britsh Home Army looks much better now CB wise ;-D

So many interesting options - I love it - but first I need to support my allies ;-D

Poor Austrians - so few modifiers - but therefore a lot of units ;-D

Ouch that battle hurt - I hope Russian and Prussian forces will arrive early enough, to save the Austrians from Napolens onslaught...

Great AAR, thanks for posting it. I am just wondering how the new replacement system is working out? It seems a strange decision to remove the old system with all the unit types separate, because before you could choose if you want to replace Militia or more Elite troops if you were low on resources. How can you make such a decision now? I am really loving the promotion screen and O/B screen, this is something that AGEOD games needed for a long time.

Thanks - yes it is going to be interesting especially, with a nation like GB that is low on conscrpits ;-D Yep the new screens are awesome ;-D

Any plans to raid any of northern or southern France to distract the French and maybe relieve a little pressure on Austria?

Elite units cost 3 replacements in practice, to replace one loss. Regular, two replacements, militia only one.

You can disband units to get back 75% of their conscripts and 25% their war supplies, it cost VP though.

I think it is fair that in a PBEM when you manage to get a major country into an alliance, you control it directly... To be decided before game starts obviously. Or you can play with AI max bonuses and hope that it will compensate AI blunders.

But could you confirm for example that MTSG between allies doesn't work as well (or at all) ? For example to me it would make sense for MTSG between allies to be a national modifier : with time the Prussians, Austrians, Russians, British and co will be able to coordinate and MTSG so that scenarios like Leipzig or Waterloo become possible. But for at least the first few years of the GC, MTSG between allies should be non existent : Austerlitz after all would be emulated by having the russian and austrian stacks sitting together in the same province and moving together (ploddingly if I may say so).

Maybe, but first I want to bring in as many units as possible to aid the Austrians directly through Prussia - I think attacking France directly trigger spawn units for the French - I would really like to avoid that for now ;-D

Turn 3 Battles:

Is it not great that Britain has such a superior navy muahaha ;-D We earned 19 NM!!!
The first battle screen is the new standard one and the other ones the detailed ones ;-D

by steelwarrior77
Overview and Promotions:
Our conscripts went again into replacements and our NM starts to take off - we hope for more nice naval battles ;-D
Also Prussia, Portugal and Saxony joined this turn our alliance - lets hope we can stop the French from crushing the Austrians...
And our great navy officers gain promotions...

by steelwarrior77
Strategy:

Still forming up our armies for naval invasions in England...and we send all Prussians ASAP to Austria to help...
Cannot play Portugal and Saxony though - not an option in the menu ;-D
Maybe make minors playable by the Alliance leaders?

Our Austrian ally (Orso):

Orso reported me, that he won some battles and then lost some, because of never ending new stacks of the French - lets see if Prussia and Saxony will be able to help - it will for sure take too long for the British stacks to arrive...

And last but not least I found my portrait: I am Royal Prince Emil von Hesse and have 5-3-3 stats - but only command such a small army - looking jealously at Napoleon - and would Wars of Royal Prince Emil not sound so much better than Wars of Napolen LOL;-D Love the way you work with the community ;-D

Try asking for an exp force from a minor ally, they should be generous!
